The Atlanta Braves have extended manager Brian Snitker with a two-year extension. A well-deserved extension considering the past year Snitker has had for Atlanta.

Brian Snitker was simply a short-term answer for the Atlanta Braves. Not the manager of the future, rather a placeholder who would be replaced by a more worthy candidate.

Not listening to the noise Snitker came in and helped guide a young team to a surprise division title and into the postseason.

The team rallied around their veteran manager who has now cemented himself as one of the top managers in the National League during the 2018 season. Snitker is expected to have an even better team to work within 2019.

With money to spend in free agency, Atlanta will likely improve the bench and the bullpen at the very least.

Snitker’s extension is a two-year that includes a club option for the 2021 season. On the heels of the extension comes the news the Braves will part ways with pitching coach Chuck Hernandez.

Both good moves for a young roster who has nothing but potential in the 2019 season. Snitker is a player’s manager whose players obviously has his back. He maintains the old school managing style Bobby Cox had for so many years in Atlanta.

The one difference for Snitker has been he is more willing to change around the lineup or rotation if something isn’t working.

With their leadership locked up, Atlanta will now shift focus to off-season targets. With names like Manny Machado and Bryce Harper set to hit the open market Atlanta has a bevy of targets they could use to improve their team next season.
