After almost a year of deliberation, 2019 4 star Shooting Guard/ Small Forward Marcus Watson has finally committed to Georgia Tech.

Marcus Watson has been one of the highest touted prospects in Georgia Tech Basketball’s recent history. The 6-6 205 pound SG/SF is rated a 4 star by 24/7 as well as 69th in the country and 2nd in Georgia. With this commitment, Marcus Watson becomes the 12th highest recruit in Georgia Tech’s history (since 2000), Tech’s 19th 4-star recruit (since 2000) as well as Josh Pastner’s second 4-star recruit.

It was fairly certain Watson would choose Georgia Tech as he has had 10 visits at Georgia Tech or with Georgia Tech coaches which is 2 times more than any other school on his list. Watson also is a hometown kid playing his high school ball a little less than an hour away from McCamish Pavilion at Buford High School.

In his junior year, Watson averaged around 21 points and eight rebounds.  He also shot 65 percent on 2-point field goal tries and 34 percent on 3-pointers.

Watson has the ability to score like Tadric Jackson but also possesses the strength and the body of a player like Josh Okogie. He can play a myriad of roles on the floor but will most likely play more small forward due to Michael Devoe, another highly touted Georgia Tech Recruit, playing as a shooting guard.

While it’s unknown if his career will follow the likes of Okogie and Jackson, Watson certainly has the potential to be a wonderful player for Georgia Tech.
