2. Another Division Rival Rebuilding Could Part Ways with Top Catcher

The Miami Marlins aren’t exactly rebuilding in any traditional sense. Getting rid of every franchise player aside from their catcher and failing to add any decent talent seems to be their gameplan of late.

J.T. Realmuto has been the exception to that rule. He has remained in Miami despite seemingly constant rumors that he could be on the move.

Realmuto is a career .279 hitter with 20+ homer power. Good production from a catcher who handles himself well behind the plate.

While he may not be as big of a game changer for Atlanta as Jacob deGrom he is certainly one of the more valuable trade targets to be had. Bringing him to Atlanta would take Tyler Flowers out of the starting lineup making the lineup much stronger.

The problem in this deal much the same as for deGrom is demand. Both players will be involved in bidding wars if their clubs decide to deal them. Atlanta has the pieces to get either or both, the question is will they be willing to pay what it takes?
