2. The Atlanta Running Game Has to Appear Behind Tevin Coleman

Watching the Atlanta Falcons this season it has become obvious it is Matt Ryan and the passing game or bust. The running game has been terribly inconsistent, averaging less than 85 yards a game.

The Falcons are ranked 30th in the League in rushing offense. Completely unacceptable for a team with an average offensive line, and a good running back in Tevin Coleman.

Part of the problem could be play calling and not simply lack of execution. The constant outside run calls are predictable. Atlanta must at least attempt to run the ball between the tackles.

If they cannot improve in the running game Atlanta won’t make the playoffs this year. Coleman has to be better consistently running the football and not giving up on runs.

Ito Smith can be added into this discussion as well, the rookie is going to be counted on as the backup running back. Devonta Freeman is yet again injured, and cannot be counted on this season with his inability to stay on the field.

Coleman must find a way to ignite a stale Atlanta rushing attack. If not, Atlanta will be in for a long season of Matt Ryan attempting to win games himself.
