1. Nick Markakis Coming Back to Atlanta Makes Sense

Nick Markakis was Atlanta’s best hitter for the first half of the season. He scorched the baseball consistently, and ended the season hitting .297, a mark hurt by late season struggles. Nick is a perfect fit for Atlanta ONLY if he is willing to accept a lesser role.

Markakis is a 34-year old veteran coming off of a great season. Traditionally 34-four year old hitter have their best seasons behind them. The reason for Markakis being a great fit is more so for his leadership and platoon ability and less about his numbers.

A platoon role may not be something Nick is willing to accept. If that is the case, there isn’t a fit for him in Atlanta. If the Braves are going to trade blows with the best teams in the League they must have depth and be able to rest starters.

Following a path similar to the Dodgers having multiple players capable of starting any given night.
