2. A Low Risk High Ceiling Move Signing Matt Harvey

If there is one thing we have learned about the Atlanta Braves over the last four years it is their propensity for signing former high profile players. No free agent fits that description more perfectly than Matt Harvey.

Harvey was the face of the New York Mets for a very short time. He was a dominating pitcher teams hated to face. Injuries derailed his career and he quickly fell out of favor in New York. A trade to the Reds landed him with a chance to turn his career around.

He pitched well at times in Cincy finishing out the season with a 4.50 ERA leaving him a tempting buy. Harvey still has the stuff to be a top of the rotation pitcher. The Braves need rotational help badly and are unlikely to be big spenders.

Is there a more perfect fit than Matt Harvey? A low cost option with the potential to be a top of the rotation pitcher.

Giving Harvey a two-year deal would be best case scenario for the Braves as they continue to evaluate their own arms. Harvey to Atlanta may have seemed crazy, now it makes too much sense for the Braves not to explore.
