3. Relief Help Without a Huge Price Tag

Zach Britton is one of the more interesting relievers to his the market this winter. Few others have his capability to boom or bust. Britton is coming off of a mixed season that saw him recover from injury but his combined 3.00 ERA over the last two seasons hasn’t been horribly impressive.

The biggest reason this move makes sense for the Braves is it allows them to address different areas of need. Craig Kimbrel is the biggest bullpen name to hit the market. For many reasons a reunion with him would make sense.

But the caveat to that is the huge contract Kimbrel will demand from Atlanta. Britton gives the Braves the possible production of Kimbrel without the huge price tag. The question for Atlanta will be are they willing to take a risk on a reliever with the potential to be great? If not, spending for Kimbrel may be the best move for a leaky Atlanta pen.
