The Atlanta Falcons made a great move bringing in a former member of the Legion of Boom in Bruce Irvin. Irvin will instantly make the Falcon’s defense better and help them with their playoff push.

The Atlanta Falcons are very much in the playoff hunt even after a miserable 1-4 start. A start that had everyone panicking and jumping ship on what should have been a talented roster. Injuries and poor game execution let three close games slip away.

Not focusing on the past, Coach Dan Quinn has his team firmly refocused as they have rattled off three straight wins. Now with games against the Browns and Cowboys, the Falcons will have a shot to return to relevance.

Offensively the team is clicking with Matt Ryan playing at an MVP level taking care of the football (19 TD’s to 3 Int’s) and making clutch throws.

Defensively the Falcons are improving, after struggling to stop even the worst offenses. Along with the signing of Bruce Irvin came the news that middle linebacker Deion Jones will be returning in two weeks.

Jones is the quarterback of the defense and will offer a huge boost to the Atlanta defense. Irvin will offer Atlanta a better pass rush and possibly a more potent starter than Vic Beasley.

Irvin’s most memorable seasons came with the Seahawks under Dan Quinn. Quinn knows how to use Irvin, putting him in the best positions to succeed and improve an Atlanta pass rush with some questions.

Signing Bruce Irvin improves Atlanta’s ever-increasing playoff hopes helping fix the weakness of their team. Irvin has 3.0 sacks so far on the year and will be joining a much better defense in Atlanta.

The question for Atlanta will be are they capable of continuing to string together wins? Atlanta must finish on a 6-2 clip to have a chance to make a playoff run.

A 9-7 record likely won’t be good enough, going 10-6 is a necessity if Atlanta wants to keep their playoff fate in their own hands.  More to come as Atlanta continues to get healthier and add depth to a playoff roster.
