Grady Jarrett – Defensive Tackle

Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, son of Atlanta Falcons legend linebacker Jesse Tuggle, has been a rock in the middle for the Dirty Birds. The run defense is noticeable better with Jarrett in the lineup and he’s stepped his pass rush up, adding three sacks in the last two weeks.

Grady Jarrett notched three tackles overall and in addition to the sack, he combined with Duke Riley on a tackle for a loss. He also had another quarterback hurry. Most importantly Jarrett held strong in the run game despite being double teamed.

It’s wasn’t the best game for Grady Jarrett, but he was impactful as always. The only true negative mark is he did miss a sack, allowing Alex Smith to break away and escape.

Desmond Trufant – Cornerback

Desmond Trufant hasn’t played up to his capabilities this season, ranking as cornerback number 74 by Pro Football Focus. He bounced back to play a solid game in our Nation’s Capital.

Trufant was only targeted six times in coverage by the Washington Redskins, and allowed only three catches for 21 yards. He gave up just one first down catch. He also had a pass breakup that would have been an interception, had Trufant been able to squeeze the catch. He did miss one tackle in the contest.

Desmond Trufant got a coverage grade of 72.1 by Pro Football Focus for his contributions. That should be the floor for a cornerback as talented as he is, as he strives to get back to his Pro Bowl level.
