The Atlanta Hawks time with Carmelo Anthony was almost as short as his tenure with the Houston Rockets. With the forward set to become a free agent, should the Hawks reunite with Carmelo?

Carmelo Anthony and the Atlanta Hawks could join forces once again with Anthony on his way out of Houston. For the Hawks it would be an interesting deal where they simply have nothing to lose. Anthony meanwhile, would have a team to help rehab his value and give him plenty of shots.

Looking at the Hawk’s roster, it is blatantly obvious they lack any established shooter. Though he may be aging Carmelo’s best years had him as a top ten player in the League.

Carmelo was traded to Atlanta in the off-season but was bought out, wanting to join a contender. Now with the Rockets dropping him so quickly Atlanta has a chance to bring Carmelo back into the fold.

Carmelo is declining, there is no way around it he isn’t what he used to be. But surrounded by Atlanta’s youth in a low pressure situation could Carmelo bounce back?

There is only one way to answer that question, bring Melo back to Atlanta. While there are some concerns about having him in the locker room it hardly seems pressing for a team like the Hawks sitting at the bottom of the League.

Signing Carmelo makes sense, it puts the Hawks back into slight NBA relevance and will help sell tickets.

Pairing Trae Young and Carmelo Anthony would be entertaining, a word rarely used to describe Hawk’s basketball these days.

Anthony will likely sign any contract offering him a chance to repair his damaged reputation. After struggling since leaving the Knicks Anthony isn’t likely to receive many offers.

The Hawks reuniting with Anthony may be a long shot, but it is one they certainly should explore. A move that would help make the Hawks interesting again as they endure another long losing season.
