Georgia Football: Offensive Dog Bones Earned Versus Georgia Tech
Dog Bones Earned: Offense
Jeremiah “JJ” Holloman – Wide Receiver
Jeremiah Holloman a 6’2 200 pound sophomore wide receiver out of Covington, GA, has steadily risen up the Georgia Bulldogs depth chart all season long. He continued to make big plays for the Dawgs on Saturday.
The UGA passing attack spreads the ball around to a plethora of receivers, often preventing any one receiver from having a huge game. This was the case against the yellow jackets, as eight different receivers caught passes in the match-up.
JJ Holloman caught just two passes, tied for second on the team. He logged a total of 29 yards on his two receptions, including a 12 yard touchdown catch.
One of the things that Georgia wide receivers must do in order to get significant playing time, is block well in the run game. Jeremiah Holloman stood out as a blocker on Saturday. He had multiple key blocks to help free running backs Elijah Holyfield and D’Andre Swift on the edge.
The blocking won’t show up in the box score, but Pro Football Focus noticed it, giving him the second highest grade on the Dawgs offense. That’s good enough to get him a Dog Bone from ATL All Day.
Pro Football Focus Grade: 79.7
Jayson Stanley – Wide Receiver
Jayson Stanley a 6’2 senior wide receiver from Fairburn, Georgia, played well for the Dawgs against GA Tech. He did not even catch a pass, but like his teammate JJ Holloman, he did yeoman’s work as a blocker that won’t show up on the stat sheet.
Where Jayson Stanley did show up on the stat sheet was the running game. He took the jet sweep handoff twice, gaining 39 yards. His longest run came when he was able to get around the edge for 27 yards.
Pro Football Focus shows us that a good game doesn’t always show up on the stat sheet. He earns an ATL All Day Dog Bone for his efforts in the win over the rival Yellow Jackets.
