Jonathan Ledbetter – Senior Defensive End

Jonathan Ledbetter is yet another senior that left a lasting impression, for the Dawgs in his last game between the hedges. Ledbetter has played better as the weeks have gone by and is playing his best football of the season.

Jonathan had a huge game against GA Tech. He was tops on the Bulldogs defense with nine tackles. That’s an incredible number for a defensive lineman and a rare occasion in which a lineman led the team in tackles. Typically linebacker Monty Rice or safety Richard LeCounte hold that honor.

One of the nine tackles Ledbetter made, was for a loss as well. He did a great job at setting the edge and stopping Tech runs to his side.

He wasn’t flawless as he didn’t score high enough to grade as a top five UGA defender by Pro Football Focus. Regardless Jonathan Ledbetter receives an ATL All Day Dog Bone for his rare feet and doing his part at shutting down the Dawgs hated rival.

Freshmen Contributors

The future is bright for the Georgia Bulldogs defense. Many underclassmen are seeing major playing time in key situations. These two freshman who are a part of that bright future, made noteworthy contributions for the UGA defense against Georgia Tech.

Adam Anderson – Edge Defender

Adam Anderson had his most productive game of the season against the Yellow Jackets. He was among three Dawgs to tie for third on the team with five tackles. He also had a tackle for a loss. He also now has an ATL All Day Dog Bone for his career best game.

Jordan Davis – Nose Tackle

6’6 freshman nose tackle Jordan Davis has been a real find for the Georgia Bulldogs defense. His addition to the starting lineup, has gone a long way in fixing the problems that plague the UGA run defense, early in the season.

Jordan Davis stepped up once again, with three tackles, 1 for a loss, and his first career sack. At 320 pounds, he is the anchor of the Dawgs defensive line. He gets a Dog Bone for anchoring that line in excellent fashion against GA Tech.

Game Notes

The Georgia Bulldogs incredibly held Georgia Tech to just 128 yards rushing. That’s not much more than one-third of the 354 yards per game, that the Yellow Jackets normally average. The Dawgs stymied Tech limiting them to just 2.8 yards per carry.

The Dawgs only allowed two offensive touchdowns in the game, both were in the fourth quarter, when most of the starters were sitting. It was truly a masterful performance for the Dawgs defense and their coaching staff.

The victory over Georgia Tech means the Bulldogs have completed their second straight undefeated season between the hedges in Sanford Stadium.

Next Up

The Georgia Bulldogs will take on the undefeated and top ranked Alabama Crimson Ride at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, here in Atlanta Georgia. The match-up is a rematch of last season’s National Championship game.

This time a win would send the Dawgs to the College Football Playoff, for the second year in a row. A defeat would likely send UGA to the Sugar Bowl.
