Atlanta Falcons Dismal Season Pointing to Needed Changes for the Organization
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Falcons were a sneaky Super Bowl pick headed into the 2018 season. Now 12-weeks in they sit at a dismal 4-8 and have looked like anything but a good NFL team.
Looking at the Atlanta Falcons roster searching for reasons to explain their struggles many fans will point to the injuries that hit the defense hard in week one. But if you look closely the Falcons have more than enough talent on offense to win games.
The fact they are unable to score consistently points to one fact, it is time to fire the offensive coordinator. While firing the coordinator will be the first step the Falcons must make roster moves as well.
The defensive and offensive line need addressing. The offense needs reinforcing, the line needs to be able to hold long enough to give the quarterback time to use his myriad of weapons.
Aside from the offensive playcalling and the coordinator, there is little to no reason this offense shouldn’t be able to keep up with any team in the League.
Looking at the Falcon’s season , opening week was a sign of the problems to come. Against the Eagles the Falcons had four chances to punch the ball in and win the game. Just as they had four chances to win a season ago in the playoffs.
As always Atlanta failed to come up with the clutch play when they needed it the most. We have seen Atlanta make clutch plays on offense with the correct play calling. Though there is something to be said for lack of execution, play calling is the biggest culprit in Atlanta’s failures this season.
It is time for Atlanta to realize their current roster isn’t working and move towards a younger offensive coordinator and put more talent along both the defensive and offensive lines.
Until they do Atlanta will continue to underachieve and struggle to score points in 2018 and the seasons to come.
