Deion Jones – Middle Linebacker

Week 13 marked the return of Pro Bowl player and the Atlanta Falcons defensive quarterback Deion Jones. The return was as triumphant as a return could be in a loss. Deion Jones led the Dirty Birds with an incredible 15 tackles. Astoundingly 13 of those tackles were solo.

Deion Jones had one tackle for a loss against the Ravens and seven others that constituted as stops. A stop is a play that results in a gain of three yards or less, that does not produce a first down or touchdown. His PFF tackling grade against Baltimore, was 76.1 and his run defense grade was 78.9.

Deion Jones also added a sack for the Falcons in week 13. The sack was a rare linebacker sack for Atlanta, as it was their first by the position this season. Deion was given a pass rush grade of 77.3 by Pro Football Focus.

Coverage is where the rust of not playing since week one somewhat showed up for Deion Jones. He was targeted five times in the game and surrendered four catches for 41 yards. Ten of those yards came after the catch. Ravens quarterbacks had a rating of 100.8 when targeting Jones.

PFF gave Deion Jones a coverage grade of just 59.6 for week 13. The only other negative marks for Jones are the fact that he committed one penalty and missed one tackle. However he can’t be blamed much for missing one tackle, when he made 15.

Deion Jones was thoroughly missed by the Atlanta Falcons. His presence on the field for week 13 was a sight for sore eyes. Expect Debo to improve weekly, as he returns to game shape.

Pro Football Focus Grade: 71.2
