The Atlanta Falcons are coming off of a blowout win over the Arizona Cardinals. With their playoff hopes done, Atlanta should lose the final two games of the season as they prepare for 2019.

The 2018 season is over for the Atlanta Falcons, the games left are meaningless for players who have already assured themselves roster spots. Playing for stats and pride alone, now is the time for Atlanta to rest key players and lose the final two games of the season.

In a surprisingly bad NFC, the Falcons have a chance to land a top-three pick if they were to lose against the Panthers and Bucs in the next two weeks.

Losing for draft positioning is a highly debated topic in the NFL landscape. For the Falcons, however, it should be the obvious move for a team that is already building for next season.

Not only would losing the final two games assure the Falcons a valuable draft pick, but it would also almost assure that the team’s coordinator positions would undergo changes.

Getting a new offensive coordinator is something Falcons fans have been waiting for nearly two seasons now. The best chance they have of getting a new coordinator and an impact player for next season is losing the next two games.

The Panthers are coming off of a tough loss to the New Orleans Saints and have looked dismal over the last five games. Losing to the Panthers won’t be easy and could mean the Falcons rest starters if they want to have a chance to lose.

Their final game of the season will be against the hapless Tampa Bay Bucs, a team that is horribly inconsistent.

Losing their final two games won’t be easy and would require an obvious tank job, including resting Matt Ryan.  Though it is unlikely to be the move they choose it is the right move for a team moving in the wrong direction.
