Despite being fourteenth in the Eastern Conference, the Atlanta Hawks continue to see positive developments from their Young players. Atlanta appears to have found another draft steal and core piece in rookie guard Kevin Huerter.

Atlanta Hawks General Manager Travis Schlenk has now made two consecutive selections, with the number 19 pick in round one of the NBA Draft. His first selection forward John Collins is experiencing an explosion in his sophomore season, as described here.

This year’s number nineteen pick Kevin Huerter, is starting to assert himself as he settles into his role. He is looking like another valuable core piece, despite not being a lottery pick.

It took Kevin a while to find his footing. He missed the summer league and all offseason activities, due to recovering from surgery on a broken hand. Huerter did not start a game and averaged less than 16 minutes in the month of October.

When the month of November rolled around, Kevin Huerter saw his minutes increase and he even made two spot starts. By November 25, Huerter had shown enough talent, that he was permanently inserted into the starting lineup.
