Things to look Forward to with the Atlanta Falcons
Now that the Atlanta Falcons are officially out of the playoff race, there are still a few things to look forward to as the season winds down and we head into the offseason.
There is no disguising the 5-9 record that the Atlanta Falcons are boasting, as they head into the last couple of weeks of the 2018 Season. While this season has been, how do I put it nicely, a steaming hot dumpster fire, with scary flames beginning to dwindle.
Right when I thought there were no signs of life, the Falcons proved me wrong. I was about ready to stop watching the games every Sunday, starting with the game against the Arizona Cardinals, up until the point where the Falcons came out to play.
Granted, it was the Arizona Cardinals, but the Falcons played great, or better than what they have been doing. There are signs of life with this team and a few things to look forward to, as we head into the offseason and try to forget the entirety of this season.
Dan Quinn is NOT on the hot seat (yet).
After reports of Arthur Blank saying that Dan Quinn is not the problem for this year’s troubles, which is true, he is not going anywhere. I personally think that Dan Quinn is the guy for our team.
While this season has been a disaster, injuries are the cause of it. Dan Quinn is not the issue, and after seeing multiple articles being published suggesting that he is on the hot seat, I believe they are completely wrong and are just there to stir the pot.
However, if next season is bad, injuries or not, he may be fired. In other words, if the Atlanta Falcons do worse than 9-7 next season then I think he will be kicked to the curb.
Also, Dan Quinn was brought in to fix our defense and it has been quite the enigma. In 2016, there were signs of the defense improving and becoming an impenetrable unit but never really took the bigger step. In the 2017 season the defense performed quite well and has been the most notable defense since Dan Quinn became head coach.
The pass rush just has not been there. If it isn’t fixed by the end of next season and if we do badly next season then he is going out the door.
A high draft pick coming our way
The fact that we will be getting a top-10 draft pick and come back next season with everyone returning healthy, is going to pay dividends for the Atlanta Falcons. I am not saying we are going to go all the way, but I am saying that it will boost them so much further than the teams that are performing well this season.
If you are reading this Dan Quinn, Thomas Dimitroff, or Arthur Blank, please draft an offensive lineman. I can’t keep watching Matt Ryan being pummeled time and time again, every single game. It’s not only exhausting, but it is also annoying, that we can’t get a play to develop since our quarterback is picking grass out of his helmet.
Please draft an offensive lineman because it is time for the “Great Wall of Atlanta” and for our running game prosper.
