Atlanta Falcons Fans Hoping For NFC Upset
By Kit Anderson
The NFC Championship is here and the Atlanta Falcons and their fans are pulling for an upset as the Rams travel to take on the New Orleans Saints. The Saints have the better quarterback and more experienced coach giving them a decided advantage.
Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints are one of the most likable teams in football, unless you’re an Atlanta Falcons fan. In that case you know how disliked the Saints are in Atlanta. The thought of the Saints playing in the Super Bowl in front of an Atlanta crowd is sickening.
This isn’t any fault of the Saints only the nature of one of the more heated rivalries in football. The Saints in Atlanta using the Falcon’s facilities and playing for a Super Bowl in their stadium would feel wrong.
With this in mind, the Falcons and their fans will be pulling for the Rams to upset the favored New Orleans Saints.
The Rams are the new NFL in a nut shell young offensive minded head coach, a dynamic running back, and an impressive passing attack. Defense takes a back seat to making sure the offense is humming and capable of putting up 40+ points on any given night.
This particular game means even more with it seeming more and more probable the Patriots could be facing the winner of the NFC Championship. The Patriots vs. the Saints for a Super Bowl is a nightmare scenario for Atlanta.
Two of the most hated teams in recent Falcon’s history playing on their turf for the trophy would make the Falcon’s terrible season even more painful.
For the Rams to pull this upset off they are going to have to play keep away, playing a Cowboys brand of offense not attempting to be the flashier team but the team who wins time of possession. That will be the key to winning and keeping the Saints out of Atlanta.
