The Atlanta Braves have continued to maintain interest in Marlins’ catcher J.T. Realmuto. Realmuto seems to only be heading to Atlanta if the Braves are willing to part with a position player.

Parting with a position player is a terrible idea for the Atlanta Braves both short and long term. J.T. Realmuto is a talented catcher but will play less than any position player Miami would be willing to accept.

It seems Miami is stuck on the idea of Dansby Swanson or Ender Inciarte. Both are more valuable to the Braves long term then a catcher would be.

Swanson is likely to improve and the Braves would be trading him at his lowest value. Inciarte would create another hole in the outfield. A problem the Braves just addressed by bringing back a certain veteran right fielder.

Realmuto is an interesting player who has the ability to improve once he leaves Marlin’s park. However, he isn’t worth the high price the Marlins are demanding.

The Braves just won their division and have young players improving. Inciarte and Swanson are both likely to have better seasons and were huge parts of the Braves postseason berth.

If the answer to acquiring Realmuto is trading either player that should be the end of trade discussions.

Inciarte at his best is more valuable then Realmuto and is better suited to address the shortcomings of the Braves lineup then J.T.

Dansby has had an up-and-down two seasons with Atlanta but is capable of being a top-ten shortstop in this League. Trading him at his low point to a division rival would be a mistake that could haunt Atlanta for years to come.

Realmuto is an interesting player one Braves fans seem to be fascinated with. But he isn’t the answer for Atlanta and not worth trading any starting position player on the Atlanta roster.
