The Atlanta Braves have two catchers capable of starting in place and yet they continue to be linked to J.T. Realmuto. Realmuto seems likely to be traded in the coming weeks, could he be headed to Atlanta?

Atlanta Braves fans never seem to tire of the idea of J.T. Realmuto coming to Atlanta. It is fascinating considering the other stars on the open market and the fact J.T. is seemingly less talented than other possible acquisitions.

But the Atlanta Braves fanbase nonetheless seems enthralled with the idea of the Marlins catcher coming to Atlanta.

In fairness to the fans, there has been far more interest on the Braves part in Realmuto then any star on the market. While this is based purely on the reports we have heard, it is fair to note the Braves are a tight-lipped franchise.

If they were in contact with a top free agent or close to closing a deal it is unlikely we would hear about it until they wanted it leaked.

Similar to how when the Braves resigned Nick Markakis it was leaked hardly an hour before the Braves announced the deal.

In a social media age, this is a rare feat. J.T. would only be traded to Atlanta if the Braves are willing to part with a current position player is the prevailing theory.

Realmuto being traded for a current Braves position player, creating a hole on the roster would make little sense for a team trying to build a contender.

Still, there seems to be plenty of fascination in the Braves fanbase with Realmuto, a fascination that won’t end until he is traded to Atlanta or elsewhere.

Even then there is likely to be plenty of ongoing comparisons of what the Braves should have done to acquire the catcher.

Realmuto is likely to be traded in the next few weeks. A fact that has many Atlanta fans hopeful the Braves quiet off-season will rev up once again.
