Atlanta Hawks: Trae Young Continuing to Prove His Doubters Wrong
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Hawks upset the L.A. Clippers on the road, with no bigger contributor than Trae Young. Young is continuing to prove his doubters wrong showing just how special of a player he can be.
It is a well-established narrative that the Atlanta Hawks trading their pick for Trae Young and a future draft pick wasn’t a popular move. While Young was who I believed the Hawks should pick from the beginning, many fans preferred one of the big men or forwards in the draft.
Trae is showing just how wrong some Hawks’ fans have been about the young point guard. A game after putting up 30-points and 8-assists Trae followed it up with a 26-point and 8-assist performance.
Young’s ability to create offensively and pass isn’t comparable to any rookie in his class. There isn’t a better passer or offensive leader in his class.
Trae’s ability to pass and create offense is a jaw-dropping skill that is only going to continue to develop.
Those who doubt Young have opted to focus on his shooting and lack of 20-point games. Young is continuing to prove them wrong shooting more efficiently and showing an improved ability to attack the basket.
Young is not only a big part of the Atlanta Hawks’ future he is already their best player. While this could be argued, there isn’t one player on the Hawks’ roster with his abilities and energy.
Next up for Trae Young and the Hawks will be the Kings as they continue a long road trip during Super Bowl week. The Hawks are winning games with surprising consistency relying on Young and John Collins to lead them offensively.
Collins and Young form a tandem that is giving Hawks fans a reason to be optimistic about the future. A future that is continuing to look brighter with Trae Young at the helm.
