The Atlanta Hawks are the real deal. Well, maybe not the real deal, but they are exciting at the very least. This young team continues to show us what they are capable of after a never-ending road trip where the team went 4-3.

The Atlanta Hawks may not be competing for a title this year, or anytime soon for that matter, but this team is undeniably exciting. And when it comes to the Atlanta Hawks, excitement is something we are all looking for.

Have the Hawks become the most exciting sports franchise in Atlanta? Yes, I don’t think there is any denying that anymore, though Atlanta United fans could easily disagree. The Hawks have become the fun team to cheer for in Atlanta

That’s not the case for the other professional sports franchises. The Braves and Falcons are given lofty expectations that normally don’t come to fruition. Atlanta United have proven to be winners, but that winning is going to come with expectations of winning the MLS title every season. I’m not sure how realistic that will be for the Five Stripes. The Hawks are supposed to be bad. Like, a top pick in the draft bad. But that isn’t the case with this team. These young Hawks continue to buck assumptions by racking up the wins.

The Hawks have the young core that makes a sports team lovable. Trae Young has his own built-in storyline of “us against the world” after being traded for Luka Doncic. Kevin Huerter is doing everything he can to solidify his place in the starting lineup. John Collins is a double-double machine who is getting better after every game. This is the kind of young core that can energize a team and city. There is also Taurean Prince, DeAndre Bembry, and Omari Spellman. These are all young players who are making an impact on this Hawks team.

When talking about the Hawks roster, we can’t forget about what the vets have done for this team. Vince Carter brought his grittiness to this young guys. Jeremy Lin has been giving the Hawks some valuable minutes off the bench.

Alex Len has been able to rejuvenate his career since coming to Atlanta. Kent Bazemore is the old stalwart from the Hawks better days, who hasn’t given up on these young guys or team. The Hawks have the perfect blend of veterans to show the young core how to carry yourself as a professional. That is something that is invaluable for Atlanta.

The Hawks came out of the gate struggling. There was even a 10 game losing streak early in the season. The team we are watching today is completely different now. The way the young guys have matured and the veterans have grown as a team has been fun to watch.

We can all see that this Hawks team is better than anyone would have believed before the season started. They don’t care about the predictions or the draft. This team cares about improving after every game. And I think it’s safe to say, this team is getting better all the time. That’s all we can hope for in Atlanta.
