Main Concern

Lack of Pass Rush Production

Where Ed Oliver doesn’t compare to Aaron Donald is as pass rusher. In fact pass rushing is the knock on Oliver’s game. According to Pro Football Focus, Oliver had a 15 percent pass rush win percentage in 2018. That’s very low compared to Nick Bosa the drafts top pass rusher, who posted a win percentage of 31.4 when rushing the passer.

Comparing Ed Oliver to a pass rusher like Nick Bosa who rushes from the edge isn’t a great comparison. However when compared to the draft’s other interior defensive lineman, Oliver ranks just eighth in pass rush win percentage.

Ed Oliver has all the physical tools to be a great interior pass rusher, but has yet to produce as such. He only recorded three sacks this past season, a career low. Oliver sacked the quarterback five times in 2017 and 5.5 times in 2016. This is an area in which NFL coaches will certainly need to develop when choosing to draft Ed Oliver.
