Atlanta Hawks: Five Moves to Make Hawks Conference Contenders

5. Sign Center Nikola Vucevic and Add in Quality Bench Players

Nikola Vucevic is one of the more intriguing free agents who could hit the open market. He is a walking double-double with the ability to shoot the three. Alone he wouldn’t make Atlanta a contender, however, adding him along with a quality bench would certainly make Atlanta a playoff team in a top heavy East.

The problem with this potential deal is it would be similar to Hawks teams of old. Good enough to compete but not good enough to win a championship.

The upside is the fact Vucevic paired with Trae Young and John Collins would be an offensive show Hawks’ fans wouldn’t tire of. Seeing how well Young sets up below average centers should give you an idea of just how good the tandem of Nikola and Young could be.

The only way this move works, however, would be to add a great bench behind the starters. A costly idea that is unlikely to happen.
