1. Would Kevin Durant Sign a “Prove it” Deal to Win a Weak East

Predicting what Kevin Durant will or won’t do is beyond even the best of pundits. There is always the chance Durant chooses to prove he can win a championship without a super team. Signing with a young team to prove he can lead a team to a championship similar to LeBron James.

James and Durant are ever linked and will be compared for the remainder of their careers. Durant signing a deal to play with the player he is trying to surpass seems unlikely.

It seems more likely he signs a deal to stay with the Warriors or heads to a weak team to prove what he is capable of.

In that scenario the Hawks would be the ultimate “prove it” opportunity similar to how LeBron brought the Cavs back from obscurity.

If the Hawks have any chance of signing Durant they won’t hesitate. It is an unlikely deal but one no one can count out considering just how unpredictable Durant can be.

Durant would not only make the Hawks Eastern Conference contenders but Finals contenders for every season he stayed in Atlanta. A dream scenario that is unlikely to come true.
