The Atlanta Braves division is continuing to improve, making it more difficult for the Braves in 2019. Signing Craig Kimbrel would be a huge step forward for Atlanta one they must take to help secure their division chances.

The National League East may be quickly becoming the toughest division in baseball with the Atlanta Braves, Phillies, Mets, and Nationals all improving this off-season all four have the pieces to contend.

For the Braves to take a step ahead of the competition they need to make at least one move to help solidify their team. The biggest question marks for the team are in the bullpen and starting rotation.

With a young rotation and a questionable bullpen, the Braves should do their best to improve at least one of these areas. The most achievable move would be to sign a closer to help solidify the back end of the Braves pen.

There is no better closer in baseball than Craig Kimbrel who is still a free agent. For Atlanta, they should do everything they can to bring Kimbrel to their roster. Acquiring an elite closer would make the Braves bullpen appear totally different sliding each of its current occupants back an inning.

Bringing Kimbrel back home to Atlanta would be both a feel-good story and a contending move for a team on the edge of contention.  Kimbrel’s market has seemed tepid at best with the teams lacking a closer unwilling to pay his asking price and the teams with the cap to pay already having established closers.

Atlanta seems to be a likelier landing spot every day that passes without someone meeting Kimbrel’s asking price.   Atlanta needs to make a move to keep pace with an improving division. A move like signing the best closer of the last half-decade.    It’s time to bring Craig Kimbrel back to Atlanta.
