The Atlanta Hawks lost to the Houston Rockets 119-111 but Trae Young still gave Hawks fans a reason to enjoy the game. Young set a new career high in points scored and threes made.

If there is still anyone doubting just how good of a player the Atlanta Hawks drafted in Trae Young yesterday’s game should provide enough proof. Proof pointing to just how good Young is capable of being.

He can be lethal from deep range and is always setting up his teammates for high percentage looks. In the loss to the Rockets Young carried the Atlanta offense scoring a career high 36-points adding in 8-assists and plenty of impressive passes.

Young’s passing ability or assists have never been in question. It has been whether or not he can find a way to shoot the ball more consistently from deep. His range is incredible and finding consistency would make him one of the best offensive point guards in the League.

Yesterday’s game was a great example of just how good of a player Young is capable of being. His ability to drive the basketball or to let a shot go from half court is indicative of today’s ideal NBA player.

Making the game even more impressive was the fact it came against the Houston Rockets. Perhaps the only team with a legitimate shot of taking down the dynasty that is the Golden State Warriors.

They are known for playing tough defense and taking away your best weapon. They failed to do that against the Hawks despite putting their better defenders on Trae.

dark. Next. Falcons Should Sign Suh

Young is putting together a strong case that he should be Rookie of the Year. A award that would be well deserved if he can continue the pace he is one since the All-Star Break.
