The Atlanta Falcons annouced that they will retain the services of Vic Beasley, electing to honor his 12.8 million dollar fifth year contract option. This move will prevent the Dirty Birds from fielding the best possible roster in 2019.

Dan Quinn confirmed through Vaughn McClure the Atlanta Falcons beat writer for ESPN, that the team would retain the services of defensive end Vic Beasley. The team had already exercised his contract option, but had until the start of the league year to release the edge rusher without incurring any dead money against the salary cap. Dan Quinn explains why Atlanta chose to retain Vic in Vaughn McClure’s ESPN article.

The most concerning thing is Dan Quinn hinted that Vic Beasley would likely play the 2019 NFL season under that 12.8 million dollar option. When asked if Beasley would have to earn a contract extension he was quoted as saying:

"“One hundred percent, He’s knows that. We know that. If he’s the competitor we think he is, then those are the moments you live for. I’m excited to see what he can be this year.”"
