Former Georgia Bulldogs star Todd Gurley has now established himself as one of the best running backs in the NFL.   Gurley, however, had a limited impact during the playoffs pointing to a key injury that could impact his career.

Todd Gurley was one of the best Georgia Bulldogs of the last decade and is now one of the best running backs in the NFL. Throughout the Rams playoff run to the Super Bowl Gurley had a limited impact, however.

While it was suspected that Gurley was injured he and the team maintained nothing was wrong. Though it wasn’t hard to see Gurley wasn’t the same running back he has been since he stepped onto the Georgia campus.

He lacked the explosive step he had or the ability to run through would-be tacklers. Now reportedly Gurley has been dealing with an injured knee.

Gurley’s left knee has arthritis, an injury that is concerning not only for the season to come but for the remainder of Gurley’s career. It is a serious issue that the team is monitoring closely and attempting to treat.

While hope is maintained Gurley can bounce back to form there is solace in the fact he was given guaranteed money. Meaning regardless of how this injury goes he is likely set for life after receiving a contract keeping him paid until 2023.

Bulldog and Rams fans alike hope the best for the dynamic running back who has done so much for both football powerhouses.

The Rams will likely look to address the running back position this off-season with plenty of questions surrounding Gurley’s status.  It is a reminder of what a violent game football is and how quickly a player’s career can take a turn.

A reminder that when a player pushes for guaranteed money they aren’t being “selfish” or making a decision to hurt the team. Instead, they are remembering their mortality looking to secure their future while they have the opportunity.
