Atlanta Hawks veteran Vince Carter has made it known he is willing to come back for another season. The Hawks should bring back the veteran on a team friendly deal next season.

As the Atlanta Hawks begin to move into contending mode they will need veteran leadership. Leadership the coach or young players simply cannot provide based on lack of experience. Signing Vince Carter again next season is a good move for Carter and the Hawks.

Carter is averaging 7.1 points per game this season, though his impact has gone beyond that. His impact on his teammates or steadying presence as a scorer or a leader is obvious for this team.

If the Hawks do indeed land one of this upcoming off-season’s premier free agents bringing back Vince Carter for one last season would be a great decision.

Even if the Hawks were to fail to bring a top free agent to Atlanta Vince has a great impact on the team and would be a great addition. Carter gives the team leadership and production at the same time.

He is proving himself to be a reliable three-point shooter (40.9% this season) and will give the Hawks a cheap and flexible rotational big to use. Carter won’t demand minutes either considering his age he will be perfectly paired with a young roster.

The one hiccup to this potential plan is if Carter decides he wants to attempt to win a ring before he hangs it up. Signing with the Raptors or Warriors to attempt to win a ring is doubtful, however.

Considering Carter is on the record saying he preferred playing time to ring chasing. A rare sentiment in a day and age where everyone seems to have a hot take on who the GOAT is why it is or isn’t based on championships.

Vince Carter fits in Atlanta, the Hawks and their fans would love to see Carter return for another season. A season Atlanta might finally return to contending basketball in a weak Eastern Conference.
