The Atlanta Braves off-season disappointed many Braves fans who were hoping the team would follow through on their promise to spend more freely in 2019. Instead, the team is coming into the season with the relatively same roster and a lower payroll.

While the disappointment is understandable the Atlanta Braves still have a very good roster and with one move could make their team much better. It isn’t any secret that Craig Kimbrel and Atlanta have been connected throughout the off-season.

Though there are varying reports as to how interested the Braves have been signing Kimbrel is the clear move to make the Braves a great team.

Signing Kimbrel changes the make of the bullpen in Atlanta. It takes it from a very questionable unit to a strength with each reliever slotted back an inning.

Kimbrel will likely demand a high price but it seems doubtful the team will have to give him a long term deal considering we are five days away from Opening Day.

It hasn’t been that long ago that the Braves trade Kimbrel a day before the season opener. Now they have the chance to flip the script signing Kimbrel before Opening Day and putting themselves back into the National League race.

Though the Braves may be considered contenders as currently constructed they will need everything to go perfectly in the postseason. Especially considering they don’t have a reliever or starter who is a proven postseason performer.

Kimbrel is not only a proven postseason commodity but is shaping up to be one of the greatest closers of all-time. His dominance that started in Turner Field so long ago is yet to wane despite facing tougher parks and lineups in Boston.
