Opening Day for the Atlanta Braves was sullied yesterday when the Phillies laid a beat down on the Braves pitching staff. It wasn’t a great start for the Braves, but it’s a long season, so there is plenty of time to work out all the kinks.

And there seem to be a few things the Atlanta Braves need to work out if they want to compete for another division title.  While it is hardly a large enough sample size simply looking at the current roster gives us the information we need on this team.

The Braves are coming off of a division title and will be facing high expectations for the remainder of this season. Expectations that have them actually winning a playoff series instead of an early exit as they had last season.

For now, we have to look at yesterday’s game to see what went right, what went wrong, and what the Braves need to do early in the season to improve this team. These are five things I noticed while watching the Braves on Opening Day.
