The Atlanta Braves are off to a disappointing 0-2 start due to their lack of ability to pitch or keep the game close.  Though their lack of pitching depth has been frustrating there is help on the way.

Signing a free agent is appearing a long shot for the Atlanta Braves who seem perfectly content gambling with their unproven pitching staff. With that in mind, the Braves best bet is rehabbing starters Mike Foltynewicz and Kevin Gausman.

Both players are on track to join the team faster than anticipated and should help stabilize what has been a very shaky pitching staff so far.

Foltynewicz was a surprise ace for the Braves last season and will be leaned on heavily again during the 2019 campaign.  The Braves will need a comparable season from Folty if they hope to repeat as division champs.

Teheran and Gausman are the only remaining veteran pitchers in the Braves rotation. Both players have a very up-and-down track record and are unknowns.

What we do know about Gausman is the fact he will eat plenty of innings for the Braves regardless of how effective he is. This is something Atlanta badly needs with a very shaky bullpen.

A bullpen that seems to give out walks freely and appears allergic to throwing strikes or finding outs.

Once healthy both Gausman and Folty will be huge improvements for Atlanta.  Gausman is expected back during the upcoming Marlins series. While Mike could rejoin the team as soon as the second week of April.

Both very encouraging results considering how serious either injury could have been and how badly the Braves need veteran pitching.

While this will do little to fix the bullpen it will help the pen carry less of the load giving them fewer chances to surrender runs. More to come as the Braves season continues to get off to a disappointing start.
