Atlanta Falcons: Potential First Round Pick Montez Sweat
Athletic Ability and Combine Performance
Montez Sweat was one of the stars of the NFL Draft Combine this season, particularly for his time in the 40 yard dash. Sweat ran an incredible, blazing time of 4.41 in the race. That is a new NFL combine record time, for defensive linemen entering the draft. Montez also completed the three cone drill in seven seconds and the 20 yard shuttle in 4.9 seconds. He placed fourth among edge rushers in the three cone drill and fifth in the 20 yard shuttle.
Sweat displayed good athletic ability by achieving a 36 inch vertical jump, as well as jumping 125 inches in the broad jump. This ranked him eighth and fourth, among edge defenders entering the 2019 NFL draft, in those categories. Strength is where Montez failed to excel as that is not his biggest strength. With that said, he still managed a respectable showing in the bench press, lifting 225 pounds 21 times. This places him 11th among this year’s draft eligible edge defenders.
