The Atlanta Braves earned their first road win of the young season beating the Rockies 8-6. The game was encouraging on several fronts including young slugger Ronald Acuna showing improvement.

Ronald Acuna helped lead the Atlanta Braves to an 8-6 victory with a homer and two runs scored. It was an encouraging night for Acuna who has struggled the first two weeks of the season. Though few were worried knowing just how good of a player that Acuna is.

Nick Markakis added in three more hits and the Braves held off a late surge from the Rockies to win 8-6.

Julio Teheran carried a shutout into the fifth inning before the wheels fell off in what was a typical Coors Field start.  Teheran had great control and was pitching well before a terrible 5th inning that saw the Rockies score six straight runs.

Despite the rough outing there were still encouraging signs for Teheran who has consistently had better velocity than he has in recent seasons.

He looks to be in better shape as well and have better command over all of his pitches. Though last night’s outing was rough Teheran’s production will improve this season and is headed in the right direction.

The Braves and Rockies series will continue as the Braves continue to try and chase down the NL East leading Phillies after their 0-3 start.

Despite early injuries the Braves are above .500 and have won 2 of their first 3 series. Their lineup is loaded and will help to carry an iffy rotation and a leaky bullpen. Though to be considered contenders Atlanta will have to address the bullpen at some point this season.

If not the team is unlikely to find postseason success considering their lack of reliable late inning options. The Braves and Rockies will play game two of the series tonight at Coors Field with first pitch scheduled for 8:40 EST.
