Nearly a week after locking up Ronald Acuna the Atlanta Braves signed Ozzie Albies to an extension. It is another team-friendly deal that will give the Braves flexibility in the seasons to come.

The Atlanta Braves continued their trend of locking up their own players signing Ozzie Albies to what could amount to a nine-year deal.  The deal ends with two team options that could make Albies a Brave until 2025.

It is another team friendly deal for Atlanta totaling a mere $35-million dollars. An astounding amount considering Albies immense talent.

Though in fairness to the Braves and Albies, Ozzie is yet to prove himself fully and did have some struggles for the latter half of last season.

Signing Ozzie and Acuna long term is the best case scenario for a team who has been unwilling to spend on blockbuster deals in seasons past. Having two of their stars signed to long term contracts is exciting and promising for the Braves future.

With the extensions being handed out so far this season it is fair to wonder who could be next for Atlanta?  Dansby Swanson or Johan Camargo are two other young players with questions Atlanta could gamble on now.

Ozzie and Acuna will be Atlanta Braves for years to come, a fact that has many fans excited. Considering the immense talent they both have it is a signal that the Braves are in for contention mode in the coming seasons.

Though signing their own talent is great Atlanta still has holes on their roster and will have to continue to make moves if they hope to be true contenders in 2019.

Signing their two young stars to extensions is a great move and one that will help ingratiate the front office with the fans once again.  Though it does little to aid the bullpen problems that will continue to haunt Atlanta.
