The Atlanta Falcons 2019 schedule has been released and with it the news the Falcons will open the season on the road. Taking on the Vikings on opening week sets the tone for what will be a tough schedule.

The Atlanta Falcons schedule at first glance will be tough for a team looking to rebound from a terrible 2018 season. They will open their season on the road in Minnesota taking on a Vikings team looking to rebound as well.

Atlanta has the superior quarterback but the Vikings have great skill position players and a solid defensive unit. It will be a tough way for the Falcons to open the season.

The Falcons will have another Thanksgiving matchup this season against the New Orleans Saints as well as a prime-time Sunday Night game against the Eagles.

The Eagles will be without quarterback Nick Foles who is now with the Jacksonville Jaguars should be an easier matchup considering their struggles when quarterback Carson Wentz was starting last season.

The schedule contains the usual six division matchups along with tough matchups the Texans and Colts.

Matching up against the Texans will be especially interesting considering it will be the first time many Falcons fans get to watch former Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.

For the Falcons their bye week will come in week nine, a perfect halfway point for a team who will need all the rest they can get with a very tough schedule.

There are plenty of winnable games, however, with matchups against the Cardinals, Buccaneers (2x), and 49ers.

Atlanta has the talent in place to make it back to the 2019 playoffs even with a tough schedule. The biggest question mark will be the defense who must find a way to get key stops they could not during the 2018 season.  More to come as the Atlanta off-season continues.
