Wide Receiver Jayson Stanley – Atlanta Falcons

Jayson Stanley has signed a free agent contract with the home state Atlanta Falcons. The 6’2 207 pound wide receiver was seldom used on offense at Georgia, but was a regular special teams player on kick and punt coverage teams. Offensively Stanley only caught three passes in college for 32 yards and one touchdown. He also ran the ball four times for 81 yards.

The interesting thing about this signing, is the fact that Jayson Stanley is converting to cornerback with Atlanta Falcons. ESPN Atlanta Falcons beat writer Von McClure confirmed the signing and switch on Twitter:

Jayson certainly has the speed to keep up with wide receivers, running a 4.46 in the 40 yard dash at his pro day. Stanley is said to have been clocked as fast as 4.39 in the race. Atlanta is also sure to give him a shot on special teams, a role he excelled in at UGA. Watching Jayson as he attempts to switch positions in training camp and in preseason games, will be must see TV for Georgia Football fans. In fact I would not be surprised to see a contingent of Dawg fans show up at Falcons practice to cheer him on. Georgia Bulldogs fans are just that supportive of their own!
