3. Derrick Morgan

The former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket is on the market after 9 seasons with the Tennessee Titans. The former Titan’s best days might be in the past, but it’s clear the edge-rusher still has plenty to contribute. Last season, Morgan only recorded .5 a sack and four QB hits. The two seasons before that, Morgan recorded 7 and 9 sacks and 22 and 14 QB hits. Morgan isn’t that far removed from being a very productive pass rusher, something the Falcons are in need of.

Vic Beasley was brought back on his fifth-year team option to try to save his Falcons career one more time. Since 2016, the year Vic lead the NFL in sacks, Vic has been a disappointment as a pass rusher. One thing that was present in 2016 was Dwight Freeney, an aging vet who was brought to the team on a low money deal. Freeney was more of a teacher than pass rushing threat that season. Derrick Morgan can provide that same kind of guidance for Vic and Takk McKinley, another pass rusher who the Falcons are looking for more out of. If the Falcons can find a way to bring the veteran pass rusher into the team, his presence could help the Falcons in more ways than just rushing the passer.
