The 2019 NBA Draft Lottery lottery is soon approaching. May 14 is when the Atlanta Hawks will learn where they will pick in the NBA Draft. The prize for winning this year’s lottery, is the right to draft consensus number one pick Zion Williamson.

Players and fans of the Atlanta Hawks will have their eyes glued to the upcoming NBA Draft Lottery. The hope is that the Hawks land the number one pick, for a chance to select Zion Williamson from Duke University. There are also several promising young wing prospects available, should the Atlanta Hawks not land the number one pick. Players such as R.J. Barrett, D’Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish and Jarrett Culver are all players the Atlanta Hawks are expected to strongly consider drafting, depending on which pick they land in the NBA Draft Lottery.

The lottery results for the Dallas Mavericks, are also something that the Atlanta Hawks faithful will be watching closely. As long as the Dallas Mavericks do not draw a pick in the top four, their first round pick conveys to the Atlanta Hawks to complete the Luka Doncic for Trae Young trade. According to Tyler Watts of The Smoking Cuban, the Dallas Mavericks’ FanSided website, Dallas has just a 26.4 percent chance to move up to a top four draft slot. The pick has the highest probability of being number nine, at a 46.4 percent chance.

The Atlanta Hawks being likely to receive the Dallas Mavericks first round pick, would have a plethora of options to add even more talent to their already talented young core. Bol Bol with his ability to protect the rim, rebound and stretch the floor, would be the perfect complement to the Atlanta Hawks playing style. The main factor in rather the Hawks consider Bol will be his medical reports, after he played only nine games last season due to a stress fracture in his foot. Goga Bitadze offers similar rim protection and floor spacing capabilities, though he doesn’t rebound as well. Atlanta could move down a few spots to select Bitadze and add another future first round pick to their collection of draft assets.

Jaxson Hayes is another top center prospect. Hayes is very raw though and doesn’t offer the same floor spacing capabilities as the other two top center prospects. Coby White, Romeo Langford and Kevin Porter Jr are strong guard options, that would fit well with the Atlanta Hawks, depending who they select with their first round pick. Forwards Rui Hachimura and Sekou Doumbouya are also players the Atlanta Hawks are sure to consider. Hopefully the Hawks are using the Dallas Mavericks’ pick to add a piece that compliments Zion Williamson.
