Marquee Names Available

There are a few other marquee free agents left, that don’t play one of the positions that the Atlanta Falcons need most, but could definitely help the ball club. Ndamukong Suh is the biggest name left on the market. Though the Atlanta Falcons have depth at defensive tackle, Suh would certainly be an upgrade over Tyler Davidson, Deadrin Senat, or anyone else who the Atlanta Falcons would pair with Grady Jarrett. Suh started all 16 games last season, in route to helping the Los Angeles Rams get to the Super Bowl. He was the third highest graded defender on the team, as he produced 59 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Suh, a five time Pro Bowl player and three-time All Pro, is known for the inability to control his temper. He was incident free last season, so his past should not scare the Falcons off.

Muhammad Wilkerson is also a big name. He became well-known in New York, after posting double-digit sacks as an interior pass rusher in 2013 and 2015 with the Jets. He only played in three games last year for Green Bay, after a broken ankle ended his season. However Wilkerson has graded poorly since having a Pro Bowl season in 2015. He is more name than game at this point, and probably should not be signed unless Ra’Shede Hageman proves to be unable to contribute at all.

Eric Berry is another big time name that is still on the market. He is a three-time All Pro player and five time Pro Bowl selection. In 2016 Berry was the feel good story of the NFL, overcoming lymphoma to regain his All Pro form. Unfortunately for Berry, things have went awry since. He has only played in a combined three games due to various injuries in the last two seasons. With that being said, Eric Berry has a great mind for the game of football. If he’s ready to accept a backup role, Berry does add depth at a position of need, as he can play both safety spots. This would allow him to step in if something happens to Rico Allen, leaving Damontae Kazee to still play cornerback. Eric Berry is an Atlanta native, so he would he returning home to finish his career. It would be a nice signing if it’s a low-cost incentive laden one year deal.
