The Atlanta Hawks will be looking for a star to pair with their young core this off-season. Jimmy Butler appears to be looking for a new team as well after his time in Philly, Butler would perfectly fit in Atlanta.

Jimmy Butler signing with the Atlanta Hawks may be a long shot but it is a signing that makes far too much sense for the Hawks not to explore. Butler is a defensive stopper and a great scorer from the forward position.

The Hawks are looking for a player to help make up for Trae Young’s defensive shortcomings as well as to help lead their young core.

Butler is obviously tired of dealing with lethargic teams who simply don’t want to win as badly as he does. Butler is a born leader who is going to stay on his teammates whether they like it or not. He plays defense at a high level and is continuing to improve his shot.

He may not be a top ten player but he is a star who would help Atlanta complete their rebuild. In a weak Eastern Conference Butler makes the Hawks a contender.

For Butler the move is simple, he will be the leader on a young team and the unquestioned go-to-player. That would seemingly carry a lot of weight for Butler who is tired of playing with stars who simply don’t care.

Signing Butler would be an expensive move for the Hawks is the only downside to this move. It would mean the Hawks have little chance of adding another star for at least a year.

A fact that wouldn’t be a bad thing dependent on Trae Young’s continued development. Butler would complete the Hawk’s rebuild and make them a playoff team once again after two seasons of rebuilding.
