The Atlanta Falcons are coming off of a rough season, often lost in that is the fact that Ryan had a fantastic year. The 2016 MVP put up great numbers despite the struggles around him.

To say the Atlanta Falcons play calling was inconsistent in 2018 would be a vast understatement. The team has changed directions in the off-season mending what was a terrible offensive line and re-working their offensive coaching staff.

Now with more help and better people around him there isn’t any reason Ryan shouldn’t win another MVP.

Despite constantly being under pressure last season Ryan had one of the best years of his career. He passed for 4,924-yards with a 69.4% completion rate, the second best of his career. He added in 35-touchdowns to only 7-interceptions it was easily his best season outside of his MVP campaign in 2016.

Ryan is obviously reaching his peak, looking at his numbers and how he has improved in at least one area each season. He moves much better in the pocket and manipulates defenses much better than he did earlier in his career.

Add in a better completion rate and an improving offensive line and Ryan should be poised for another great season. Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman are both expected to be healthy and will give Atlanta one of the best trios in football.

Calvin Ridley will help Atlanta’s offense as well. He is a big play receiver who is going to help Atlanta have a constant deep threat.

His presence paired with Julio Jones gives even an average quarterback an advantage. An advantage Ryan will use this season to again put up MVP caliber numbers and help the Falcons return back to the playoffs.

It is a big year for a Falcons team looking to prove their championship window isn’t closing. After back to back heart breakers in the postseason Atlanta fell out of the playoffs altogether last year. This season that won’t be the case and it will be because of MVP Matt Ryan.
