The Atlanta Braves are expected to acquire pitching help before the July trade deadline. No starter on the market would be a better than former Braves starter Mike Minor.

Mike Minor started his career with the Atlanta Braves. After a promising start to his career injuries derailed his career and Minor and the Braves parted ways. Five years and two teams later Minor is back and dominating for the struggling Texas Rangers.

The Rangers are expected to be sellers at the deadline and no piece will be more sought after than Mike Minor. Minor coming back to Atlanta would be a perfect fit for both sides and just the trade that Atlanta needs.

Acquiring another quality starter and a late-inning bullpen arm will be Atlanta’s priorities during the month of July. Mike Minor would perfectly slot into the Braves rotation. Now that he is finally healthy Minor has once again been an impressive starter.

Minor is 8-4 with a 2.40 ERA so far this season and has consistently been dominating opposing lineups.

He would replace Bryse Wilson in the Braves rotation giving Atlanta a true postseason worthy rotation.

Minor returning to Atlanta to help Atlanta make a deep postseason run would be a great storyline and give Atlanta a chance to match any rotation.

The problem in this trade scenario is the fact Texas is likely to demand a king’s ransom for one of the best starters on the market. The Braves have often been very hesitant to part ways with prospects and will give any potential deadline deals plenty of thought.

Spending prospects for Minor might be tough but if the price is even close to reasonable the Braves need to pull the trigger on the deal. For the first time in many years, they have a legitimate postseason team that has World Series aspirations.
