Ramifications of the Atlanta Hawks Trade for Chandler Parsons
How The Atlanta Hawks Can Fill Out the Roster
The Atlanta Hawks now only have four big men on their roster. Small forward De’Andre Hunter, will also play some power forward in a dynamic small ball lineup.
The roster could certainly use another big body. Dragan Bender could be another good reclamation project from the Phoenix Suns. I suggested the Atlanta Hawks taking at look at Bender in this recent article.
Probably the best thing about this trade, is the fact that it increases the Atlanta Hawks chances of bringing back future Hall of Fame forward Vince Carter.
Chris Kirschner, Atlanta Hawks best writer for The Athletic, also echoed the sentiment that the deal makes it more likely for Vince Carter to return:
As the Hawks roster is currently constructed, there is certainly a place for Vince to see minutes at the power forward position, in what will be his final NBA season.
Most importantly, Carter would have a year to mentor young forwards De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish. Spending a year learning how to be a pro from a consummate professional like Vince Carter, would do wonders for those young men’s careers.
As the Atlanta Hawks continue to mold the roster, Hawks fans continue to spend time combing the internet for news of potential Hawks trades and free agent signings. With this trade being made, there are certain to be more moves to follow, as Travis Schlenk continues to build something special in Atlanta.
