1. The Braves Should Avoid Trading With Division Rival Mets For Inconsistent Zack Wheeler

Zack Wheeler is expected to be one of the top pitchers on this year’s trade market. Wheeler has spent his career with the Mets and is finally putting together a healthy season this year for New York.

Wheeler has a 6-6 win-loss record and has an ERA well over four. Still based on his promise teams are expected to line up to attempt to trade for the starter.

The Braves should avoid dealing for Wheeler despite their need for starting pitching. Wheeler has shown himself to be inconsistent and injury-prone. Atlanta would be better served to give Kevin Gausman or Mike Foltynewicz another turn in the rotation then they would be to pay the high price it would take to acquire Wheeler.

Atlanta needs starting pitching but Zack Wheeler shouldn’t be an option for a team focused on improving for the postseason.
