3. Atlanta Should Avoid Trading for Prized Giants Starter Madison Bumgarner

Madison Bumgarner is likely to be the most sought after piece to be moved during the upcoming trade deadline.  His postseason experience is well known considering the iron man performance he put on for the Giants in the World Series not long ago.

Despite this Atlanta should avoid the fiery left-hander for several reasons. The first is the fact that the price is going to outweigh the production. Bumgarner isn’t the pitcher he once was. Still, teams will pay a high price based on the back of his bubblegum card.

Atlanta would be better served to pay a lower price for a starter who won’t be in such high demand. They will likely be able to find the same production for a much lower rental price.

Another reason to avoid Bumgarner is the fact he is unlikely to fit in with Atlanta’s current approach. Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuna lead a fun-loving roster who play the game as it should be.

Bumgarner has gotten in more than one tussle over a bat flip or a player admiring a homerun. It seems this old school approach is unlikely to fit in with one of the youngest and most fun-loving rosters in baseball.
