The Atlanta Braves are coming off of a series win against their division-rival the Phillies. The series win was a costly one, however, with the news Nick Markakis and Dansby Swanson will both be on the injured list for the time being.

It was a mixed weekend for a first-place Atlanta Braves team. On one hand, they beat their division rival and maintained their first-place status with plenty of a buffer. On the other, the Braves lost both Dansby Swanson and Nick Markakis to the injured list.

This is good news for Ender Inciarte who had been the source of plenty of trade rumors. Though the injury itself is never good news it does provide a chance for another player. In this case, Ender Inciarte who just became a lot more valuable to Atlanta.

Though he struggled this season Inciarte has dealt with injury and the back of his baseball card is full enough to know what he is capable of. The last two games he has gathered 4-hits and 6-runs batted in.

Hitting two homers is unusual for Inciarte is hopefully sending a message of what is to come for the talented center fielder.

Though parts of the Braves fanbase seemed quick to turn on Ender it is hard to forget what he has done for Atlanta.

He is run-saving center fielder who has the ability to be consistent on base threat. He did well hitting leadoff for Atlanta and often was their best hitter outside of Freddie Freeman during the Braves rebuild.

With this weekend’s performance and the injury news, Inciarte can rest easy he is unlikely to be leaving Atlanta. Now he can focus on turning his season around and returning to the player he has been for the past few seasons in Atlanta.
