Atlanta Falcons Player of the Game

Among all of the Atlanta Falcons players in preseason game number one, rookie defensive lineman John Cominski stood out the most. He was an active, disruptive force on both defense and special teams.

John Cominski is a rookie hybrid defensive lineman out of Charleston University in West Virginia. He has the athletic ability to play defense end and the size to play defensive tackle in situational role.

John Cominski led the Dirty Birds with a team high six combined tackles. Four of those tackles held the opponent to three yards or less. Importantly he made the tackle on every opportunity that came his way. Cominski did a great job setting the edge in the run game on his side of the field, when playing defensive end.

John Cominski was also one of only five men to collect a sack in the preseason game. He did not beat his man clean on the sack. Instead he kept working from his interior rush position, and eventually worked free for the sack.

Additionally John generated another quarterback pressure, that resulted in a hit as well. Both plays were against rookie quarterback Drew Lock from Missouri.

John Cominski also recovered a fumble on special teams in the contest. D. Orlando Ledbetter of the AJC, mentioned Cominski as a Falcon who played well in his game observations article.
