Despite losing 27-34 this past week at the hands of the Miami Dolphins, there were some solid performances by Atlanta Falcons players.

The Atlanta Falcons received good performances on both sides of the football in week two of the preseason. Some of the guys who played well have their roster spots solidified. Others are guys who are fighting for a spot on the final 53. Here are the ten best performances.

Atlanta Falcons Offensive Standouts

Offensive Player of the Game • Matt Schaub

The performance Matt Schaub put on against Miami was day, compared to night in his week one performance. Schaub bounced back from a horrendous showing in his first preseason game.

Schaub competed 12/19 pass attempts for 172 yards. He failed to throw a touchdown pass, but he also did not turn the ball over. Schaub was sacked once for a loss of five yards.

Matt averaged 9.1 yards per attempt and posted a quarterback rating of 92.4. It was a refreshing recovery from his horrible 4/14, ten yard, game one thud of a performance. He had a microscopic quarterback rating of 9.8 and threw one interception against Denver in the Hall of Fame Game.

This bounce back performance was important to the Atlanta Falcons. Kurt Benkert who appeared to have a shot to unseat Matt Schaub as the backup quarterback, is on the shelf for the season with a major toe injury. That makes solid play by Schaub, extremely important for Atlanta.
